The existing contemporary five bedroom detached house is located in Leinster Woods, Carton Demesne. The site’s aspect provides fantastic views over an adjacent sheet of water.

The client wanted to create a home office and a further relaxation / entertainment room which would maximise their garden’s potential. We designed a stand alone garden pavilion which is sympathetic to the main house and features a cathedral ceiling, and two completely glazed elevations, which afford beautiful views over the garden and lake.

The completed design sits harmoniously with the original house and has provided a greatly used, valuable work and entertainment space.

Size: 125m²

The brief was to design a new home to fit on a tightly constrained plot of land within a mature housing estate in Castleknock. Further requirements were that the house was to be contemporary in style, feature a high standard of finish and facilitate an open plan living arrangement.

Careful consideration to the design layout has resulted in a home that is highly distinctive in character that yet does not look incongruous within the setting. Despite the limitations in terms of the size of the site, the interior is both spacious and well-lit and retain strong visual links to the garden beyond. The performance of the building fabric has been enhanced in order to maximise comfort and minimise running costs.
