The Bray swimming pool project was developed alongside Greystones Pool to meet the leisure needs of northern County Wicklow. The brief was to provide a range of indoor and outdoor sports activities to complement the more family and leisure orientated experience on offer at Greystones.
The building is organised as two distinct forms – a double height pool hall space with two storey adjacent ancillary block containing changing facilities and gymnasium. The outdoor element of the scheme includes 4 5-a-side 3G pitches.
Ease of operation and maintenance were critical components of the brief. In addition to an efficient thermal envelope and heat recovery, the use of CHP (combined heat and power) benefits the operation of the building by helping to reduce energy costs.
