SPADE  is a community based Enterprise Centre, originally opened in 1990 in the converted St. Paul’s Church, North King Street, which is a protected structure. Demesne have designed & submitted for planning, Phase  Two, which is an extension that will increase the existing shared kitchen provision and will allow its members to use a full commercial kitchen, providing start-up & small scale food businesses an opportunity to grow their business.

The SPADE initiative assists local unemployed people to successfully set up their own businesses.

From the outset this venture has proved very successful and within a short time the building was fully let.

The new extension will allow members using the open plan kitchens to operate side by side in a cohesive manner. A major part of this development is to encourage networking and the spaces will operate in a way in which visitors and members can interact. The site is challenging, as it is land locked site with restricted access and is bounded with high density residential units. The site has archaeological importance and houses a valued historical Protected Structure, the former St Paul’s Church.
