The Glebe is a mixed development of 19 Detached and semi detached houses and 8 apartments. It is located in the heart of the popular Kildare Village of Straffan. The project involves the refurbishment and conversion of a protected structure, “Glebe House” and the new build element is designed to complement this.
The development is easily accessible to pedestrians and cyclists and is also served by bus routes.
The design consists of a variety of apartments and dwellings. Units proposed range from 1 to 5 bedroom. The design of the units have distinct feel, but share the same finishes – render, brick, stone faced walls and slate roofs. The site has a distinctive recognizable courtyard design, where the courtyard provides a visual and respectable separation from Glebe House. The 3 and 4/5 bed terraced units form a hard edge and creates a formal hard edge, providing a more urban character to the scheme and provides a visual anchor.
The detached dwellings and apartments to the front is located away from Glebe House and courtyard. The courtyard type central layout provides for passive surveillance.
